Paris in Five Photos.

Love locks on the Pont des Arts.
Continuing with the Europe tour pictures from last week, here are my five favorite pictures from my time in Paris.  They span all of the highlights from the trip (namely Saint Chapelle and Giverney) and they are the best representations I can give from this fabulous trip.  I apologize for the lack of presence on the blog recently.  My summer classes are winding down (read: finals approaching) and I am in my final weeks of my internship (read: a million things to finish before I leave).  Hopefully August brings with it a sense of relaxation, and I can finally come to terms with the fact that I am no longer a teenager as of last Thursday.

London Town.

Union Jack.
I think it would be an understatement to call London an amazing city.  Only in London do you truly feel the merging of two distinct worlds into one cohesive city.  On one hand you have the old regal empire; on the other a fast paced modern miracle.  The two days I spent in London were filled with running (literally) from one sight to the other.  The highlight of the trip in London was definitely seeing Les Miserables.  It was magnificent and by the end I was in tears (note: Les Miserables is my favorite book and I have been dying to see the play for over two years). Here are just a few of the pictures I snapped...

A Trip in Photos.

Mind the gap.
I spent the past weekend relaxing in the best way I know how.  I spent Saturday enjoying the sun with a new book, and Sunday picnicking and swimming on the boat with good friends.  Seeing as I did very little this weekend, I thought I would give a little preview as to how I spent my time in London and Paris last week.  There's more to come!

Jet Lagged.

Jardin du Luxmebourg.

Pretty much directly after posting my escapades from Nantucket, my mother and I boarded a plane bound to London for a couple of days of bonding, and celebrating her birthday.  The entire trip was a whirlwind, but fantastic nonetheless.  Despite an eventful trip home (read: one flight canceled, missing another, and a whole lot of time spent at Charles de Gaulle), my mother and I left Paris yesterday night.  Over the next week I will be posting some of my favorite pictures from both cities, and as much as I love to travel, I can't wait to settle back into a routine on this side of the Atlantic.

ACK.

Charming corner on Main Street.
If yesterday's post wasn't enough of a hint, I spent much of the past week in charming Nantucket.  It has become a bit of a tradition for me to join my best friend at her house on island for the Fourth of July, and I truly look forward to it every year.  As much as I love the North Fork of Long Island, there is something so lovely and quaint about cobblestone streets, wood clapboard houses, and hydrangeas blooming everywhere you turn.  After a holiday filled with beach picnics with sandwiches from Something Natural, chocolate cranberries from Sweet Inspirations, and finally making my way over to 'Sconset, I am back in New York and planning for next year!

Sunday Sweets.

Selection of Chocolates at Mali B. Sweets in Greenport.

During the week my diet revolves around whatever's in the fridge and how quickly I can make it.    However, on the weekend this shifts to whatever is at the farm stand, and whatever catch looked best at the market that week.  It really is a blissful detour from the reheated wonder that defines my Wednesday night. This Sunday I managed to squeeze in some delicious North Fork sweets.  These are some of my go to places to satisfy my sweet tooth, and indulging in a day revolving around sugar isn't necessarily a bad thing.
